New
Product Packaging is now live
Packaging allows you to define a package relationship between multiple products. As an example, you may have a twenty-four case of beer that holds x4 six-packs and if you open a six-pack, you get x6 singles. These are all essentially the same product, just that they come in different packaging.
With packaged products, you have the flexibility to use the different packaging quantities that your products are available in, throughout the many in store workflows; from ordering, all the way through to selling. You can order in the quantity that your supplier sells to you and when you receive the products into your store, you can easily break them down into the products that you'll sell to your customers — optimizing inventory management across your packaged products.

Payment reconciliation made easy for online payment types
You can easily reconcile online payments across channels, all within your Vend by Lightspeed store.
Map your online payment types in the app configuration page, and also set up a default payment type if an online order with an unmapped payment type is pulled across. When an order is imported from BigCommerce or WooCommerce, the payment method for that order will be mapped to the corresponding payment type.

Delete products on Catalog
You can now delete products on the Catalog page - and in bulk too!
Because a product can’t be deleted if it’s in an open sale/consignment/count or composite, we now show a quick link to each item so you can easily close/cancel before deleting the product.

Inventory Report: Search button
The inventory report’s date range picker, report type picker, inactive products toggle, and filters have been updated to stop reloading the report every time one of them has changed. You can now make multiple changes before triggering the report generation by clicking on the search button.

iOS Register: Email sales quotes from Sell Screen
In our most recent version (v 5.1.0) of the iOS register app, you can now email sales quotes directly from the ‘Sell Screen’ instead of going to the sales history page and emailing the quote from there.

Bug smashes
Promotion spreading on sales
In some cases, previously a promotion would spread the discount confusingly across all products. Promotions are now displayed only on products that the discount is applied to.
Fewer rounding errors
We have fixed a case where previously sales were being underpaid due to a rounding issue which was resulting in 0.01 balances for sales and your customers.

Receive inventory directly with Android Scanner
In our latest version of the Scanner for Android app, you can now receive inventory, without having to first create a purchase order on the web. If shipments arrive that don't yet have a purchase order, you can now create the order and receive it straight away, all on the app. This improves ease-of-use and helps you keep inventory and stock levels accurate.

Add ‘Standard Product’ on Scanner for iOS
We’ve now released an ‘Add standard product’ feature for Scanner on iOS so you can easily add products from your shop-floor. To use the ‘add product’ feature simply open the products tab in Scanner for iOS and choose ‘add product.’ Otherwise, if you search or scan a product that doesn't yet exist you'll be prompted. Please note our team is still working on this feature being available for adding ‘Variant Products’.

We've updated our color scheme to give our POS more of a sleek, modern feel. Although it looks a little different now, the functionality of stores remains unchanged. Retailers can find all features in the same place, doing the same great things.

Markup is now in the Add Product modal
A common request we received about the new Add Product modal, was to add Markup functionality. We’ve taken that feedback onboard, and Markup is now available to view or edit when setting the retail price for products.

Supplier codes added to Stock Control actions
Product supplier codes are now visible when ordering or receiving stock, helping retailers accurately manage stock. The supplier code is displayed next to the SKU code of stock order lists. When ordering or receiving stock, retailers can search by the supplier code, to ensure the correct product is selected.

Verifone Vcloud payment integration
Kiwi retailers can now pair Verifone payment terminals using the new integration developed by Verifone called Vcloud.

Retailers using the Workflows development platform can now choose what order specific rules run in, to optimize their in-store workflows.

AfterPay Barcode System decommission (NZ)
AfterPay has advised that the decommission date for the barcode system for New Zealand retailers will be 15th February 2022, superseded by contactless payment via Google Pay or Apple Wallet using the AfterPay Card.

Scanner for Android Update
In our latest version (1.1.0) of the Scanner for Android app, retailers can now receive orders and transfers with Android devices. Also available on the iOS version of Scanner, this function allows retailers to optimise receiving inventory so they can quickly get their goods on the shelf.

Coming soon: Online Payment Type Reporting
We're working on an update for retailers that accept multiple payment types on WooCommerce or BigCommerce online stores. The solution we're building will allow retailers to see their online payments, broken down by payment type, to easily reconcile and report on them, all in one place.

Coming soon: Add Products Faster
We listened to retailer feedback and will be reverting the ‘Add Product’ button back to show the full Add Product page, enabling retailers to add all product information on one page. The simple ‘quick add window’ will still be available when Ordering or Receiving stock, and will soon be added to the Sell screen, too.

Create count added to Scanner for Android
We’ve added a ‘Create count’ feature to the Scanner Android version so you can create new inventory counts with ease. Simply click the + button in the top right corner of the screen and choose either Count Now or Schedule Count to get started.

Inventory Report Data Representation Fix
We’ve now made a fix for on-hand or low inventory report so it uses the on-hand inventory at the date selected if the report is requested for a historical date range to ensure that the rows in the report match the totals displayed in the store, particularly when the report is exported to CSV.

SEO Friendly image names
We’ve made it even easier for products to be found online for retailers with eCommerce integrations. Following best SEO practices, product images added to Vend will now be uploaded to online stores using the image file name (ie ‘red-polka-pants.png’), helping customers discover your wares when searching online.

An android version of the popular Scanner by Vend iOS app is now available for your store to use while it’s in beta development. Scanner helps you perform inventory counts from your mobile device, to ensure your inventory data is accurate and up to date.

Inventory Management Improvements
Scanning to receive now correctly updates received quantity
If you're scanning or just entering a product SKU in the search bar to receive that product, we'll now update the Received quantity, not the Ordered quantity so your inventory remains accurate.
Stock levels for composites are now accurate
When you previously received composite products, a bug was causing stock levels to double. We have now fixed this so that your stock levels for composites are accurate.

NEW: DAVO by Avalara
DAVO Sales Tax allows you to automate the sales tax collection, filing, and payments. There are no extra buttons to push or steps to take; simply enter sales like you normally would, and DAVO will do the rest. Available for US retailers only.

Ecwid is an eCommerce platform that allows you to start selling your Vend products online. Vend integrates seamlessly with Ecwid to sync your online and in-store inventory.
You can set up your Ecwid store and pay for your subscription, all from within Vend.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) of Product Handles
For retailers with eCommerce stores, SEO friendly product handles are now automatically generated following best practices for search engines. When you’re adding products to your catalog from within the app or CSV, handles will auto-generate based on the product name with hyphens replacing any spaces, so it can be used as the URL ‘slug’ for your products, without upsetting online search engines.
For example: If your Product name is Tigerlilly Summer Dress the handle will be tigerlilly-summer-dress.

CSV upload safeguards
Our recent tweaks to the Product Catalog will make it easier to keep your catalog clean and accurate.
- Variant attributes and values are now checked to ensure no duplicate values or mismatched attributes are created.
- Product ID is now required when uploading a CSV.
These extra safeguards are designed to help your catalog maintain its status as the single source of truth for your store.

AfterPay Card - Contactless Payments
Contactless payment via Google Pay or Apple Wallet with the AfterPay Card has replaced the barcode system, which AfterPay will be decommissioning soon. Customers paying via AfterPay should now be directed to pay via payment terminal.
AfterPay Barcode System decommission dates:
- Australian retailers: 26th July 2021
- New Zealand retailers: August 2021 (date TBA)

Bug fix: Historic inventory reports
Previously inventory reports were displaying line items, even if stock was 0 or negative. And for some retailers, the reports were incorrectly displaying negative average costs. Both these inaccuracies in historic inventory data have now been resolved.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Vend software by using a secondary method of identity verification, in addition to your password. Available for Admin users, as best-practice for digital security, 2FA activation is highly recommended.

Image sync: BigCommerce & WooCommerce
Product image updates made in Vend can now sync to BigCommerce & WooCommerce online storefronts, so you don’t have to double-handle images. This feature is available now for new connections. To request this feature for your store, get in touch.
Maximum image upload size has also been increased, with images of up to 8MB now being supported.

Vend POS for iPad 4.1.0
The latest update to the Vend Point of Sale app has improvements to functionality and design:
The Add/Edit customer feature has been updated, so you can edit customer notes directly from the Sell screen. We’ve also improved the design of the screen to be more user friendly.
Payment data is now visible when reprinting a receipt from the Sales History screen.
Bug fix - Lay-by and on-account payments: The original sales person is now retained when payments are added, even if a different user takes the payment.

Return Products to Any Outlet
With the rise of contactless shopping, it’s also important to allow your customers to return products with ease.
Cashiers can now process a return of a product bought from any outlet in your Vend store. For example, a customer who bought a product through your online store can now choose to return it to their closest physical store.
Search by the customer name or the receipt number, find the associated sale, and process the return on the spot. Rest assured that the stock will be reflected accurately in each outlet and will be shown correctly in your reporting too!
Tip: If your cashier is making a return without an existing sale attached, we will prompt them to find the original sale!

You can now upload and select an image for each of your product variants in Vend! This means that it becomes easier to identify different colors, textures, and materials for the same product type!

Redeeming BigCommerce gift certificates in Vend
If you are using Bigcommerce with Vend, you can now accept online Gift Certificates in-store! This lets your customers redeem their online gift certificates in-person, giving them a lot more flexibility with how they shop with you.
This also means gift certificates bought now can be redeemed later, opening up a new source of cash flow especially during the pandemic.

We’ve made it easier to see what exactly you will be paying for in your next billing payment. Check it out by logging into your Vend Store and heading over to Billing and then “Preview Next Bill”.
The new Bill Preview page outlines:
- The exact components that make up your subscription;

- The impact of any taxes.

Custom User Roles and Permissions
If you’ve got a larger retail operation, you will have a variety of roles across every level of your business. At this scale, flexibility and security are essential to get everything running smoothly.
This is why we’ve enabled Admins to create custom user roles with customisable permissions, which:
- Allows new roles to be created with more granular permissions
- Aligns users in Vend more closely with their real world roles
- Reduces the risk of preventable security breaches

Online fulfillment and Click & Collect now available
Online fulfillment simplifies the way you complete online orders from your store:
- Instantly mark an ecommerce order as complete from your Sales History, giving your staff a quick way to confirm a shipment has been sent.
- Enable click and collect for single outlet stores by allowing staff to complete orders that have been picked up in-person.
Online fulfillment is only available for retailers that have integrated BigCommerce, WooCommerce or Shopify with Vend.

We know you've been waiting for quoting capabilities in Vend and we have been working hard to make this a reality!
You can now choose to "Quote" a sale when parking it, which will allow your cashiers to print or email the Parked sale in any template you want.

"Product not found" warning
When cashiers are busy scanning items, they are not always looking at the Sell screen. This can result in them scanning something which is not found in Vend and not noticing that it wasn't added to the basket.
To avoid the risk of a customer walking out with a product that failed to scan, Vend will now notify the cashier when a product fails to scan - whether this is because the product has not been added to Vend, or the product code has simply been entered incorrectly.

Retailers in Australia and New Zealand can now connect Vend to MYOB AccountRight to automate their most painful accounting tasks and make tax time a breeze.

Improvements to customer attachment
We wanted to make it easier for you to add customer records to Vend so that you're always able to stay in touch with your customers. You can now look up an existing customer or add them if they don't already exist in Vend when emailing receipts. We've also added some in-app reminders to remind cashiers to add customer records when processing sales.

AirPrint for iPad
You can now use AirPrint in the iPad app to print your receipts using thousands of compatible desktop printers. This allows you to issue more professional looking A4/Letter sized invoices, or print the occasional receipt without purchasing a dedicated thermal printer. Learn more

We've just released a new, modern version of the Scanner app, containing several performance improvements and a beautiful new UI. There's a new tab-style menu that makes the app easier to navigate, and you can now also start counting your products before the full count has been loaded, saving a huge amount of time for those with large counts.

Based on your feedback, we've made some further improvements to our Purchase Order page.
What's new:
- We've added a free-form Notes field for you to add custom information to your orders, like personal reminders or approval notes. These are searchable so you can identify them for future reference!
- Order numbers are now automatically generated on-screen as soon as you create a new PO. You can then add your own suffixes or adjustments to help you identify your orders easily.
- There is now a Preview section that allows your cashiers and managers to see the delivery status of items easily on screen. This key information may help them from losing sales of out-of-stock items!

More flexible reporting
Inventory Reports now allow you to group your data by product type, brand, supplier, and outlet so you can keep a close eye on performance. We've added product images to both Inventory and Sales reports so you can easily see the relationship between products and their performance.

Enable Bulk Product Activation and Publishing
We're making some updates to the Products page, enabling you to quickly activate the products you wish to sell and publish them online - in bulk.
A new filter for active status, checkboxes per product and an option to "Select All" products are now available to all retailers.
If you sell online with BigCommerce or WooCommerce, you will soon have the option to select in bulk which products to publish or unpublish to your online store. 'Publish Products' and 'Unpublish Products' will be added to the 'Choose an Action' dropdown.

Import and export products with Excel XLSX
You can now use Excel spreadsheets in XLSX format for importing and exporting product information, making it easier to update products in bulk in Vend.
Exported spreadsheets in this format now also have helpful tips, explaining the purpose of each column and how to edit its contents. Columns are also sized appropriately, and cells are correctly formatted. CSVs can still be used for import and export but they don't include the benefits of XLSX. Learn more

Vend iOS version 3.1.8
With the latest version of Vend iOS, you can now retrieve parked sales directly from the Sell Screen. We've also replaced Void Sale with Discard Sale, and to keep reports tidy no record will be kept of discarded sales if no payment has been taken, no receipt has been printed, or no layby or return is made.
You will now find Park Sale and Discard Sale in the navigation bar of the Sell Screen, making them even easier to access.

Enhancements to Vend's Sell screen on iPad
We're making improvements to our Sell screen on iPad to make checkout even faster for you and your shoppers.
What's changing?
- Search bars will appear on the Sell screen and will be split into Product and Customer search, making it easier to add relevant items or shoppers to a sale.
- On-Account, Loyalty and Store Credit balances can be viewed when a customer is added to a sale. Just click on the customer to expand and view their details.
- Notes can now be added in a single click, from the bottom of the cart.
- The slide-to-delete function for products is now disabled. To remove a product from a sale, simply click on the trash symbol next to an item.
- When a large number of products has been added to a sale, the ADD section will disappear while scrolling down, giving you more room to see what's in the cart. The section will then reappear when scrolling back up again.

If a user role (e.g. cashier) in Vend does not have permission to apply promotions at the Sell screen, it's possible to switch users during a sale to apply a promotion with a relevant user role (e.g. manager or admin).

If you have seasonal employees, or just want extra security over your store data, you can now disable users temporarily without deleting their account or login details.
